Can Canko
Commercial, Employment and Complex Litigation
Can Canko is a practising Turkish lawyer based in the United Kingdom. He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Buckingham in 2007. In the same year, he joined a Legal 500-leading law firm in Istanbul, Turkey, where he worked in the Corporate and Capital Markets department for nearly three and a half years.
While working full-time, Can obtained his Turkish Law Degree Equivalence from Dokuz Eylul University in 2010. He was admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association as an Attorney-at-Law in August 2011. In 2012, together with Pinar Canko, he founded CANKO Law Firm, a full-service law firm in Istanbul that now comprises 28 consultant attorneys-at-law.
In 2020, Can qualified as an Official Mediator through the Turkish Ministry of Justice. He also served as an International Law Expert and Construction Law Expert at the Istanbul Courthouse.
At the beginning of 2023, Can expanded his practice to the UK. He successfully passed the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) on his first attempt and became a Solicitor in England and Wales the same year. Relocating to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he co-founded the UK branch of CANKO Law Firm. Currently, he oversees complex commercial contracts, employment and commercial matters, and leads complex litigations and dispute resolution cases.
Throughout his 17-year career, Can has participated in some of Turkey's largest acquisitions, totaling over $15 billion (valued in 2010). He is an experienced litigator with extensive sector expertise in Construction, Real Estate, Logistics, Technology, and Medical Devices.
Can is fluent in both Turkish and English.
